Sustainable  | Multigenerational | Inclusive

MISSION

Co-Living Communities, Inc. provides a concrete solution to the growing sense of isolation and despair that is leading to depression, addiction, and suicide among many sectors of the U.S. population.  Serving young people, millennials, baby boomers, artists, young families and any other progressives in search of a harmonious community life, the organization promotes and supports the development of abandoned big-box stores into sustainable co-living communities, offering the exact balance of independent living and co-living experience that each resident member desires.

Co-Living Communities, Inc. is charged with:

  • Educating communities about co-living options;
  • Assisting with the design and development of big-box co-living communities;
  • Providing grants or short-term loans for early development costs for new communities;
  • Maintaining an archive of architectural designs and programming templates for
  • members to access;
  • Developing community and supporting cooperation among start-up and existing co-
  • living communities; and
  • Fostering the development of community programs and activities (e.g. in-house
  • mediation programs, opportunities for social interaction through movies, lectures,
  • concerts, poetry readings, etc.)

We need recognize that life "is in fact a tapestry and that each of us is but a thread in the vivid weave, yet each thread essential to the integrity of the cloth". - Dean Koontz

“St. Petersburg is in desperate need of housing that is affordable for all income levels, and the St. Pete Chamber is committed to working with the City, Pinellas County, and local developers to increase the supply of affordable and workforce housing. This innovative adaptive reuse concept has the potential to deliver dozens of units that can be filled by locals and potential residents looking for affordable options. Thrive's plan to adapt a vacant "big box retail store" into co-living multifamily housing is the type of forward thinking we need to have to overcome the significant hurdles we face in solving this problem.”

Chris Steinocher, President and CEO of St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce
